 Chairman's Message

This is the website of the F.I.P. Commission charged with Thematic Philately. The commission is comprised of national delegates from nearly 70 countries. You can find the delegate from your country in the "FIP Commission" section, and you are welcome to write to him/her, if you are looking for contacts with other thematic collectors or collectors' groups in your country.

In particular, this website provides those collectors with information who intend to mount their collections on pages and show these pages at public stamp exhibitions. These exhibitions are the place for the more serious collectors to meet, to discuss and to exchange philatelic material.  Furthermore, there is always a philatelic competition that awards the exhibits  medals.

The main aim of the  "Exhibiting" section is to guide the exhibitors. Of course, you will find a more general introduction in the "Beginners' Pages".

As you will immediately realise, different sections are still under construction. All contributors work voluntary and can only spend a limited amount of time. Hence, I ask you to be patient, if those parts are still missing which are of  special interest to you. The more often you re-visit this website, the better will you see it growing.

Damian Läge,

Chairman of the Thematic Philately Commission

Our THEME

World Year of Physics 2005

The World Year of Physics 2005 is a United Nations endorsed, international celebration of physics. Events throughout the year will highlight the vitality of physics and its importance in the coming millennium, and will commemorate the pioneering contributions of Albert Einstein in 1905. Through the efforts of a worldwide collaboration of scientific societies, the World Year of Physics brings the excitement of physics to the public and will inspire a new generation of scientists.

Albert Einstein (Ulm 1879 - Princeton 1955), Nobel Prize 1921 for Physics,  is celebrated this year for three reasons:

- 50 years from his death
- 100 years from the presentation of the theory of relativity, with the formula E=mc2
-  the UNESCO Year of Physics, celebrates Einstein.

Several postal administrations have already issued stamps or are in the processing of doing it. As of today Albert Einstein is depicted on about 200 stamps.
